No, there’s a TV series that’s debuting next year. Doesn’t look very good.
Ugh, I wish Hollywood would stop with the reboots and just create some new stories, that *actually* requires skill……..
Little rant
Whenever I tell people (by necessity or if it’s relevant) that I’m autistic, I will let them know how it affects them and how it affects my behavior. And when I get into the details, I’ll always hear the same kinds of comments:
“Oh, yeah. No, people can be confusing. Honestly, I still don’t understand flirting. I totally get it.”
“I think you’re not alone in that fear. Everyone wonders whether people like them.”
And I understand that these people are saying it to be kind and to sympathize with me. The problem with these comments is that yes, to some extent, the social-communication issues that people with ASD have are universal, but only somewhat.
Because no, you’re not autistic. No, you don’t understand what it’s like. If you did, everyone would be like me and being autistic wouldn’t make you “other” and autistic people wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb and be the “weird kid.” This is unfortunately a reality for many of us. In many ways these comments bother me because it almost feels like they’re undermining the real issues I grapple with and making it sound as if they’re universal. And I understand where they’re coming from - it is a place of kindness - but sometimes I wish they’d say: “You know what? That’s something I don’t think I’ll ever truly understand but I’m here for you and I’m trying.”

As a writer of fiction part of your duty and obligation is to write characters who are not you. Write them well, write them with respect and interest. And don’t listen to anyone who tells you you aren’t allowed to write people who aren’t you. You are.
my greatest fear, every time i find myself watching or otherwise in the presence of a production of tosca, is that scarpia will be hot. not out of any puritanical notion of how a good or bad person “should” look, but because i will be physiologically unable to separate that from the sheer number of Bad Person Points he has accrued.
